Professor Chakrabarty teaches in History and South Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago. His influential publications include Provincializing Europe: Postcolonial Thought and Historical Difference (2008) and The Climate of History in a Planetary Age(2021).
At materia’s event, he developed the argument of One Planet, Many Worlds: The Climate Parallax (2023), an exploration of the temporal and intellectual fault lines that mark the collapse of the global and the planetary in human history.
